13 Realtor Closing Gifts to Wow Clients

It’s important to work hard to make sure your home buyers and sellers know how much you appreciate them. If you feel like your typical closing gifts are getting stale, maybe it’s time to mix things up! Here are some great ideas to show your clients just how grateful you are for them:

  1. Curated Gift Box: If you’re looking for a closing gift that will blow your clients away, a curated gift box is the way to go. As you get to know them, you’ll find out their likes and dislikes. Take note and then make their day with a gift from a company like Boxfox. Not only do they have something for everyone, but it’s presented beautifully!
  2. Cheese or Charcuterie Board: Do you have a buyer or seller who loves to host? A gift from somewhere like The Cheese Lover Shop may be just the thing. Give them all the fixings to make the perfect at-home cheese board to thank them for choosing you.
  3. Engraved Serving Platter or Board: New home buyers will love entertaining guests even more with an engraved platter that’s personalized just for them. Not to mention, they’ll think of their favorite real estate agent every time they use it! (Hint hint, that’s you!) Check out Mark & Graham for different options.
  4. A Cozy Blanket: Is there anything better than cozying up under a blanket to watch a show for the first time in your new home? Your buyers will feel so special when you gift them a beautiful blanket like one of these from Sackcloth & Ashes. The best part? For every blanket you buy, one is donated to a homeless shelter.
  5. Personalized Stamp: A new home means a new address. Surprise your client with a custom stamp for the housewarming thank you cards they’ll be sending out. Sites like Paper Source have plenty of options to help you design a stamp that will fit your buyers perfectly. Don’t forget to throw in an ink pad!
  6. Amazon Prime Membership: Were your clients cutting back while home shopping? A lot of buyers go on a budget while hunting for that perfect home which means things like Amazon Prime are no longer a necessity. Give them a membership and toss in a gift card for good measure.
  7. Wine Subscription: If your sellers let you know about their love for vino, a wine subscription could be a lovely way to thank them for using your services. Companies like Firstleaf offer monthly memberships based on personal wine preferences. This is a gift that will offer plenty of cheer(s)!
  8. Sporting Event Tickets: If your clients are moving to a new city, gift them tickets to a game. Yes, they may already have a favorite team, but what better way to get to know your new home than seeing people come together with team spirit? Plus, no one turns down a stadium snack!
  9. Meal Service: Moving is stressful and the last thing a client wants to worry about is running to the grocery store. Give them the gift of a meal service like HelloFresh. With all the ingredients shipped straight to their door and ready to be cooked, it’ll take the guesswork and stress out of post-move meal planning.
  10. Local Items: Gather gift items from your favorite local small businesses for a client appreciation gift that won’t soon be forgotten. Maybe you know of a beautiful artisan chocolate shop or a beautiful candle shop around the corner. Think about your favorite shops around town and what their specialty is and go from there!
  11. Consultation or Service: Whether it’s for interior decoration landscape design, or even professional organizer or cleaning service, gifting a client with a session from someone who can help them make sense of their new home (or do a deep clean of the home they’re moving out of) will have you at the top of their referral list!
  12. Moving Supplies: This sounds silly, but if your seller’s home sold more quickly than they thought it would, moving supplies may be exactly what they need! Better yet, give them a gift certificate they can use toward their moving costs.
  13. Don’t Forget the Kids: No matter what gifts you give, don’t forget about the little ones. If your buyers moved during the summer, gift them a pool membership and throw in pool floats for the kids. Maybe your sellers told you their kids love to paint and draw. In that case, gift them an experience at an art museum in their new town or a local art class. Not only will it give the kiddos something to do to help acclimate to their new home or neighborhood, but you’ll stand out as both thoughtful and a good listener!

No matter what kind of gift you choose to give your clients there are a few simple rules to remember:

No Personal Branding

Of course, you want your clients to have something with your name or face on it, but the bottle of champagne you present them is not the moment for that. When gift giving, you want to focus more on personalizing it to the client and less on you as a Realtor.

Get to Know Your Client

If you don’t have a general gift that you give to every buyer or seller, then you really want to cater it to each person or family. For example, you don’t want to give any food or alcohol products to a client that has talked about food allergies, etc. Likewise, if you have a buyer who has discussed their love of nature, a beautiful coffee table book on the outdoors or a hammock for their new backyard would be perfect. If a seller loves to cook, then presenting them with a beautiful cooking knife or basket of baking supplies will have you looking like the rock star they know you are!

When in Doubt, Go with a Gift Card

It never hurts to cover the basics. If you just can’t get a read on someone, then a simple card of appreciation and thanks coupled with gift cards to a few nearby restaurants and coffee shops around town will always suffice. If you want to upgrade your gift card game, include a list of your favorite things to order from each place so your clients know where to start!
